Therapy Approaches

All therapeutic modalities have advantages and can offer important insights; the key is to match the approach to the client's needs and preferences. I use a range of therapy approaches depending on the individuals seeking help and their circumstances. With a long history in psychology, I incorporate a range of modalities from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, as well as being informed by various philosophical perspectives. 

If we can get a clearer view of how our thinking can sometimes be unhelpful, we can start to understand how it can be helpful. In both couples counselling and individual sessions, the focus is on understanding how we currently see ourselves in the world. This "narrative" becomes the core of our work. I endeavour to show deep respect to both partners (or the individual) and work in a collaborative way to improve the movement towards freedom and greater understanding.
